Lesedi Makhurane

Lesedi Makhurane, a SEED Trustee since 2009, is a scientist-practitioner with extensive experience in learning, systemic and personal leadership development, complex transformation, and new venture creation.

He began his career as a business consultant with Deloitte before becoming an executive coach, a role he has fulfilled for over 20 years. Beyond team and individual coaching, Lesedi has the rare ability to design and guide all aspects of formal leadership development journeys from start to finish. A former Director of Organisational Development at UCT, he is also a certified project manager, facilitator, and business planner.

Lesedi has taught postgraduate and master’s courses since 2003 as adjunct faculty at various universities, supervising extensively. His current work includes advising Stellenbosch University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Health, Wellbeing, Culture, and Personnel cluster on shifting institutional culture in line with the Rector’s goals.

A global traveller and lifelong advocate for environment and development, Lesedi is also a media specialist with a strong commitment to human wellbeing. His qualifications include a BA (Economics, Philosophy, Psychology) from the University of Zimbabwe, a BCom Honours (Information Systems) from the University of Cape Town, and an MA (Communications) from the University of Leicester. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Work-Based Learning at the University of Middlesex, UK.

He has served on the boards of The Coaching Centre, SEED Trust, and Novalis Institute, and maintains a regular yoga practice.
