David Newby

David Newby has over 35 years’ experience in the social sector. Beginning his career as a Methodist minister, he transitioned in 2000 to working as an organisational development consultant to not-for-profit (NPO) clients worldwide. He has partnered extensively with some of the world’s largest NPOs, supporting organisational development through facilitation, leadership development, coaching, team building, conflict resolution, change management, and strategy development.

His international clients include UNICEF, World Vision, and REPSSI, while his South African work spans organisations such as WWF, Habitat for Humanity, Home from Home, and the Sports Science Institute. In 2016, he received the Community Builder of the Year Award from The Africa Board for Coaching, Consulting & Coaching Psychology for his contribution to education in South Africa.

David has also played a significant role in school governance, serving a total of 12 years as Chairperson of the School Governing Bodies of three top Cape Town government schools. Currently, he is the Managing Trustee of SEED Educational Trust, a visiting lecturer at USB-ED (University of Stellenbosch Business School Executive Development), and a fellow of the School for Social Innovation at Hugenote Kollege. At USB-ED, he presents courses for leaders in both the non-profit and education sectors.
