A number of professional development and training initiatives take place in the education sector in South Africa each year. These range from induction programmes to curriculum and leadership and management training for teachers, school principals, SMT members, and district officials.
However, more attention should be given to how the training takes place, especially within the broader context of actively engaging with district officials and school-based educators in learning and professional development.
