
Dr Arnold Smit is an Extraordinary Associate Professor at Stellenbosch Business School and Associate Professor in Management and Leadership at the IEDC-Bled School of Management in Slovenia. He is also the owner of WisePraxis (Pty) Ltd. His work focuses on the intersection of leadership, values and ethics, sustainability, and governance in organisations. Beyond teaching these subjects in academic and corporate programmes, he facilitates the integration of values into professional and organisational practices.
Dr Smit’s conference presentations and publications address responsible leadership, values integration, corporate sustainability, multi-stakeholder process facilitation, and organisational ethics. His most recent publication is Making Values Real: Focus on the Yeast Effect.
He holds an Honours in Philosophy, an MPhil in Applied Ethics, and a Doctorate in Theology from Stellenbosch University. His diverse career spans parish ministry, human resources management, management consulting, and management education.
In addition to his academic and consulting roles, Dr Smit serves as a trustee of SEED Educational Trust, a non-executive director of The Ethics Institute, a member of the Globethics Pool of Experts, and a fellow of the School for Social Innovation at Hugenote Kollege.
Through his teaching, facilitation, writing, and advisory work, Dr Smit engages leaders and organisations in building ethical, values-driven, and sustainable practices that strengthen governance and societal impact.
